Shaping the Nose

Makeup can do wonders, it can even change the shape of your nose!

- Broad Nose. Use a foundation that is one shade darker than your natural skintone. Sweep along the sides of the nose with a small, firm makeup brush. Start just below the inner corners of the eyebrows, and end at the sides of the nostrils. Stroke a lighter shade of foundation down the bridge of the nose. Blend well.

- Flat Nose. Apply highlight down the center of the nose, avoiding the sides. Smooth and blend down the center.

- Narrow Nose. Sweep concealer that's slightly darker than your natural skintone down the centre of your nose. Then use a lighter shade on the sides of your nose and nostrils.

- Long Nose. Apply a foundation or concealer that is a few shades darker than your natural skintone onto the tip, between and around the nostrils.

- Crooked Nose. Apply two straight lines down the center of the nose. Follow with a lighter foundation on the concave area(the hollow, curved, rounded area). Apply a darker foundation on the convex area (protruding outward)

Stain for Spring

A new trend this spring is the "stained" look for lips and cheeks.

Apply stain to freshly moisturized cheeks and lips. Simply smile and dab onto the apples of the cheek by softly patting with fingers. Pat onto moistened lips as well to create a very soft, simple and sexy look.

Keep the eye simple with a taupe shadow, and line only the upper lash line with a navy pencil. Finally, take lashes to the extreme with two coats of jet black mascara.

Choosing and Using Foundation

First, decide how much coverage you need. Sheer foundations are good for a light natural coverage. Moderate coverage is a good choice for those of us with some discoloration, a few acne scars, or some freckles. Full coverage foundations offer the most camouflaging that is good for covering burns, birthmarks, bruising, and scars.

The best place to test the color of a foundation is the side of your face between your cheek and jaw line. Your goal when you apply the foundation on the lower part of your face is to find the color that appears the same shade as your neck. During summer months you may want to go a shade darker.

Caucasian women have a tendency toward red pigmentation in the face, which is why they flush and their skin can become red and blotchy. A foundation with some yellow pigment is good to balance out the redness.

African American women tend to have oilier skin, which can turn the foundation darker than it first looked on the skin. Choose shades a bit lighter than the skin and stay with shades with warm honey tones. Avoid overly yellow or olive shades, since they will turn ashy and grey after application.

Mediterranean, Latin, and Asian women have a more olive tone to their skin. Olive/beige/neutral toned foundations with a yellow undertone work best.

Applying Foundation
When applying foundation, don’t forget your eyelids, in the corners of your nose and over your lips. The end goal when applying makeup to the face is to make the color tones of the face match your neck.


After applying foundation, simply blot with a tissue if you feel there is too much. This will eliminate excess oil or moisture from the foundation.

When using thick concealer as foundation, it is important to set it with powder. It will keep the foundation from running, creasing, or smudging. It will also prevent it from cracking into any lines around the eyes. This process will also work to cover areas with acne scars.

To keep the foundation looking fresh and natural, follow with a light dusting of a translucent loose powder using a powder brush set the foundation.

Brow tips for different hair color...

If you are blonde, or have light eyebrows, there is something you can do to look more attractive instantly! Just darken your eyebrows slightly with an eyebrow pencil or powder. Makeup artists often will give their blonde celebrity clients a light-browed look for a daytime event and a dark-browed look for a dramatic evening look. Be sure to apply eyebrow pencil with soft, feathery strokes and use a shade in the blonde family to look natural.


Brunettes should have no trouble finding an eyebrow enhancer. Just remember to keep it soft, like a medium brown. Any darker is too severe, even for midnight-haired strands. Makeup artists tend to agree that girls with black hair usually look best with a dark brown brow enhancer rather than a black one, which could look too severe.


Red-haired, celebrity makeup artists often use an auburn eyebrow pencil on their red-haired clients during the daytime and a light brown eyebrow enhancer at night.

Fake lashes in seconds

Since I just showed 2 of my friends, I'll post my version on how to apply fake lashes.

First dab some eyelash glue on the front of your hand.

Use tweezers to slowly take the lashes out of the container. Still using the tweezers, glide the base of the lashes across the glue on your hands.

Wait at least 10 seconds for the glue to get taut. Use both hands and gently hold each side of the band of lashes. Close one eye and align the lashes to your lid. Gently let it sit there and apply pressure to get the glue to stick to your lid.

Hold for 10 seconds. Using the tweezers or a makeup brush, gently push the base of the fake lashes to your eyelid to ensure they will stick and stay.

Apply a layer of lashes, gently comb out so they blend. You're done!
